THE BIG, BIG "DAY WITHOUT GAY" PROTEST

Since voters consistently refuse to blow off thousands of years of tradition and refuse to legislate religious beliefs (marriage is both a civil and religious institution), a huge protest was planned to show those evil straight people what it was like to not have self-centered hateful gay people around at work for a day. Who cares if a majority support civil unions! Not having the word marriage is an unbearable force of oppression that destroys souls.

The "gay community" embarrasses the livin' HELL outa me.
Childish retards. From Gay Patriot:

Here’s what this silly sophomoric stunt resulted in:

  • Late-night joke fodder for Leno, Conan & Kimmel
  • Absolutely no impact whatsoever
  • Proof that gays are not oppressed and that we have it pretty well off in the USA vs. nearly every other nation around the world....
Folks, blacks in America in the 1950s and 1960s couldn’t eat in the same places as whites, they could not go to the same schools as whites, they couldn’t live in the same neighborhoods as whites, they were routinely sought out by police and beaten, they were routinely murdered and no one cared or investigated, they were routinely framed for rape and murder of whites.

It is a complete insult and offensive to me to compare “gay rights” in 2008 to the fight for African-American civil rights in the 1960s.

Now — can someone please justify how gays are oppressed in America given how far we have come and how one cannot possibly compare the “plight” of gays in 2008 to what America’s blacks went through during much of this continent’s modern civilization.

The Gays(tm) need to get off the high horse pretty quick. Otherwise the obvious gains that the Gay Left wants to ignore are going to be reversed.

Amen. Another post there, where you can read in the comments (garsh!) gay people discussing postive reasons for opposing gay marriage ( in regards to a George Elliot quote). Fer instance:

Indeed, one reasonable measuring stick for the value of a social law or institution is the projected effect if every member of society were to adopt it. In the case of same-sex marriage, quite aside from the difficulty our race would have in procreating itself, one effect would be a total divorcement of the sexes–humanity split in two. The (challenging) union of male and female abilities and the channeling of their combined energies in behalf of the family unit (society’s foundation and future) is uniquely within the power of heterosexual marriage.
......
My impression is that most people who do not want to see a radical change in the definition of marriage are like Eliot. They recognize the good this institution does for society, but are willing to find a way to compromise for the good of individuals - i.e. civil unions for gay couples.
