Britain, the canary in the coal mine, shows us our future. If you want to know where the well meaning, caring utopians are leading us, just take a look. From Times Online:

PARTS of the United Kingdom have become so heavily dependent on government spending that the private sector is generating less than a third of the regional economy, a new analysis has found.

The study of “Soviet Britain” has found the government’s share of output and expenditure has now surged to more than 60% in some areas of England and over 70% elsewhere

It now has the highest crime rate in Europe. People have nothing to do, have lost their sense of self worth and sink further and further into the cult of victimhood even as the nanny state takes over more and more of their lives to "help" them. It's in its death throes.
