Reading Theodore Dalrymple on England and seeing stories about the its glories and those of France, I can say that socialism destroys a society. Reading the comments in BlackFive's "Ask an Infantryman" I found this, that pretty well sums up what I have seen and heard in other places:
I've lived in three socialist nations, and they're all the same:
Everybody's a drunk; they hate the government; they steal whatever they can; they have no respect for authority; they hate each other; and they can't wait to get the hell out.
Why WOULDNT that be the case? Don't have to work, might as well drink all the time. Expect everything from the government and you throw a tantrum like a little kid when its not perfect. Everyone just KNOWS authority is evil, its the PROLETARIAT that matters, FTP! No respect for themselves as they do nothing to earn it, no respect for anyone else.
