Well, besides the obvious- that it is the best way towards a Totalitarian state (carbon touches everything, regulate it, you regulate everything)- its also about.....you guessed it! Meeeeeee!

So yesterday, the British magazine The New Scientist published an article titled, “How Reputation Could Save the Earth.” In it, the writers argue that information about your carbon footprint should be made public – because knowledge of your misdeeds might change your ways. They ask, “Would you want your neighbors, friends, or colleagues to think of you as a free rider, harming the environment while benefiting from the restraint of others?”

This is an excellent question, for it exposes the real motivation behind most, if not all, climate change apostles: to allow these gasbags the superior pleasure of shaming you. It’s all about denigrating your reputation in order to elevate theirs – a self-satisfied reward for their sheep-like devotion to climate change hysteria. They’re such needy little twerps – the kind who take part in charity fun runs just so they can wear the t-shirt the next day at work.

Now, mind you, I’m all for shame. I think it’s a forgotten art -something that might be useful in curtailing some of the more disgraceful elements of American culture. I speak mainly of any show on VH1 that involves an elimination round, and of course, John Mayer.

But this enviro-shaming isn’t even close to that. It’s not like they’re actually condemning you for authentic, immoral behavior. Nope – rather than shaming an Islamic radical for killing innocent people, they’d rather go after those of us who didn’t bring a reusable hemp shopping bag when visiting the local Whole Foods.

And that’s a real shame. These simps are manufacturing phony righteousness when, these days, real righteousness is so desperately needed. And for that, I’d happily recycle my foot in their ass.

Awesome. Groups like this should be supported and publicized. I wonder at times as to the extent of this kind of thinking in the Muslim world and have open questions, but I need to remember that that there are many Muslims of the same mind who don't speak out because they feel alone and intimidated (yeah, I know, that's a stretch, isn't it?).

I, and others I have heard, are always thinking "where are the voices of the true, moderate Muslims?"

It's easy for us to sit here and tell them to be brave and speak up, but then we don't have an ax always hanging over our necks either, do we? Well, at least not YET.

CAIR SPEAKS: "WE CONDEMN WHAT WE FUND"

Yeah, I know that makes no sense, but that's because, un-like a good liberal, you are paying attention to actions instead of just listening to words. It's spoken intent that matters (after all, that's where that coveted I'm-a-good-person, self-righteous buzz comes from), NOT actual, real world results!

But wait, wasn't CAIR named in 2008 as an unindicted co-conspirator in what amounted to the largest terrorism-finance case in U.S. history? And isn't there FBI evidence that Awad himself has direct ties to Hamas, indeed, one of the top Hamas operatives in the US?

Oh yea, it's that CAIR. Just in October, a new book came out with details:

D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, is not the beneficent Muslim civil-rights group it claims to be. Indisputable evidence now demonstrates CAIR and other "mainstream" Islamic groups are acting as fronts for a well-funded conspiracy of the Muslim Brotherhood – the parent of al-Qaida and Hamas – to infiltrate and destroy the American system.

And aren't CAIR leaders including their communications director Ibrahim Hooper, on record as wanting America to become a Muslim country?

"I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future," Hooper told the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 1993. "But I'm not going to do anything violent to promote that. I'm going to do it through education."

The left-wing propaganda rag, Newsweek, posed an interesting question on their cover: "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Sarah?" The Volokh Conspiracy has their answer:

The nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation reported that the House version of the healthcare bill specifies that those who don’t buy health insurance and do not pay the fine of about 2.5 percent of their income for failing to do so can face a penalty of up to five years in prison!

The bill describes the penalties as follows: • Section 7203 — misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 — felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3] (The Hill)

Via Instapundit comes word that the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants all in the name of purify the federal bureaucracy....

The memorandum goes on to apply this change to civil servants who were political appointees in the last five years, in effect freezing these employees out of other positions, denying them promotions, and forcing them out of their jobs.

No one is allowed to stand in the way of Barack Obama’s agenda, including his own bureaucracy. This is what happens in third world kleptocracies and totalitarian regimes.

This is scary stuff.

Just for perspective: remember the Democrats threatened to throw Bush administration people in jail for firing United States Attorneys who happened to be Democrats. In that case, it was clear as crystal that U.S. Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President and he can fire them whenever he wants. In this case, these people are now civil service employees who do not serve at the pleasure of the President and cannot be fired just because they are Republicans. in fact, the law is very clear on that point.

But remember, it's extremist to call him a Totalitarian.

It's also extremist to call the color red, red, to call up and up, and to call a turd a turd.

THE ONE'S "DITHERING" ON AFGHANISTAN MAKES TOTAL SENSE...

...to him. He can't help it. He has a devastating personality disorder. From The Bookworm Room:

Narcissists have no strong inner sense of self. Instead, they have just a gaping hole of inadequacy. They compensate by elevating to staggering levels of importance the way in which others view them. Other people’s perceptions provide their mirror. Think about this for a moment: I bet you know who you are and what you stand for. If you think you’re a good or smart person, the fact that your wife is 10 pounds overweight or your husband has a stutter is irrelevant to your sense of self. For a narcissist, the spouse’s “failings” indicate to everyone that the narcissist is a loser. Remember, he has no inner guide to his own qualities. Despite (or because of) this internal emptiness, narcissists are obsessed with hierarchy, and with the need to remind themselves, and everyone else, that they are on the top of the heap. It’s the low self-esteem of the exceptionally arrogant person.

Clinton was a narcissist who filled the emptiness with female adulation. His little brain was ticking away with “I’m a charming stud. I’m a charming stud.”

Obama’s little brain says “Everyone can see I’m a genius. Everyone can see I’m a genius.” The problem with that definition, of course, is that it’s unanchored to moral beliefs or values or guiding principles or anything else decent and internalized. It’s a standard measured only by other people’s praise. The problem with this external measurement, of course, is that if you make a mistake the praise goes away. Narcissists cannot afford mistakes. And the best way to avoid a mistake is not to make a decision. And there you have it. Obama is being tested, and he cannot afford, because of his own self-image, to make a decision that might be wrong. So he does nothing at all, while the Taliban burnishes its strength, and our troops die.

We have seen the effects of his mental illness played out over and over. This is just the latest example. And it's not just our Fearless Leader- this illness has spread to epidemic proportions in our society, and so we have a president that reflects it. This warped world view is so rigorously propagated and enforced through the schools and media that we are all affected by it. I know I am. It takes effort and persistence to counter-act it when you're soaking in it.

INTENTIONS VS. RESULTS

In our society today, all that matters is intentions. Good intentions make one feel good and feeling good is paramount. Everything else falls by the wayside. Results are mere distractions from the endless pursuit of a good buzz. It's the hippie ethic writ large.

On top of that, the schools and media have become indoctrination organs instead of education and journalistic organs. A whole generation has been taught the good intentions of socialism and nothing of the bad results. Joe Herring at American Thinker:

He had been presented with only the intentions of socialism, not the inevitable results. He had been given the whitewashed fantasy of the Left, who never saw a failure that couldn't be rationalized -- or better yet, blamed on others. Our job, then, is to teach the lessons of history to those who fail to see the danger. We have to provide that all-important perspective to a generation that has been denied it. We have to do this one at a time, conversation by conversation. Tell your friends the truth; don't assume they know it. Become the person your friends and family consult when the subject turns to politics.

And here's the truth:

In the late 1930s, the noted economist Friedrich Von Hayek wrote his landmark pamphlet "Road to Serfdom," laying bare the diseased skeleton of socialist/utopian thought that had permeated academia and the salons of his day. With an economy of words that showcased the significance of his conclusion, he pointed out the Achilles heel of collectivist dogma: for a planned economy to succeed, there must be central planners, who by necessity will insist on universal commitment to their plan.

How do you attain total commitment to a goal from a free people? Well, you don't. Some percentage will always disagree, even if only for the sake of being contrary or out of a desire to be left alone. When considering a program as comprehensive as a government-planned economy, there are undoubtedly countless points of contention, such as how we will choose the planners, how we will order our priorities when assigning them importance within the plan, how we will allocate resources when competing interests have legitimate claims, who will make these decisions, and perhaps more pertinent to our discussion, how those decisions will be enforced. A rift forming on even one of these issues is enough to bring the gears of this progressive endeavor grinding to a halt. This fatal flaw in the collectivist design cannot be reengineered. It is an error so critical that the entire ideology must be scrapped.

Von Hayek accurately foretold the fate that would befall dissenters from the plan. They simply could not be allowed to get in the way. Opposition would soon be treated as subversion, with debate shriveling to non-existence under the glare of the state. Those who refused compliance would first be marginalized, then dehumanized, and finally (failing re-education) eliminated. Collectivism and individualism cannot long share the same bed. They are political oil and water, and neither can compromise its position without eventually succumbing to the other. The history of the twentieth century is littered with the remains of those who became "enemies of the state" for merely drawing attention to this flaw. As Von Hayek predicted, the socialist vision would not be achieved without bloodshed.

What are we seeing? Enforcement of ideology. Fox news is attacked. Tea Parties are attacked. All one can see is Chairman Zero and his gang of Marxists chompin' at the bit because they haven't yet been able to use more extreme methods of crushing dissent.

To anyone wanting to upgrade the RAM in their machine I would highly recommend going to crucial.com. After searching quite awhile, I found their site. You put in the specs of your computer, it tells you what you can use, gives answers to a list of questions and sells the appropriate chips. Turns out that the first chip I bought from a seller on Amazon was defective. I kept the other new chip and put in one of my old ones and VOILA- problem solved!

A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.

Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges. ...

The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about "white privilege" with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said.

McIntyre, who is known as "Mac" at the bar, shoved Davis, and when the other patron and a bar employee tried to break it up, the prof slugged Davis in the face, witnesses said.

"The punch was so loud, the kitchen workers in the back heard it over all the noise," bar back Richie Velez, 28, told The Post. "I was on my way over when he punched Camille and she fell on top of me."

The outcome?

Davis waited three days to inform the police, because, according to Morgan, “She was being pressured not to make waves.”

(Hmmm....sound like any other recent news? She was afraid to report it because her job would be in danger. McIntyre, as a black man, was further up the victim hierarchy than she, a white woman and so she had no right to complain.

A number of American Islamic organizations and leaders openly preach the ideology that America is at war with Islam and that attacks against U.S. military personnel in defense of Islam are legitimate. As I have previously reported, military officials actively embrace these same organizations and leaders, and rely on them as their advisors on Islamic affairs notwithstanding their documented advocacy of jihadist ideology. In certain cases, these groups and leaders are funded and represent the interests of foreign (and sometimes hostile) governments or worse. This was the case with Abdurahman Alamoudi, the Islamic leader tapped by the Defense Department in the 1990s to establish the Muslim military chaplain corps, who the government now acknowledges was an al-Qaeda fundraiser in America and is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for his direct involvement in an assassination plot directed by Libyan intelligence. The Pentagon selected Alamoudi despite repeated warnings from experts and extensive evidence of his terrorist ties. While law enforcement has begun to distance themselves from some of these extremist groups, most notably the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Pentagon continues to consult with them and legitimize their claims to represent “authentic” American Islamic leadership. As a result, our military leadership continues to legitimize and propagate the very ideology that is killing our service members.

I can just hear the conversation: "yeah, I know you guys are committed to killin' us n' all, but can we get you to help us while you work on that?"

No doubt there are critics, like CAIR, who warn that any attempt to address the internal and external jihadist threat to military personnel will put every Muslim in the military and American Islam itself under the microscope. To the contrary, the violent and anti-American jihadist ideology is fairly easy to identify and distinguish from classic Islamic teaching. In fact, it is the critics themselves who readily conflate jihadism and Islam.

For these critics to say that you can’t target jihadist ideology without targeting the whole of Islam is an acknowledgment on their part that the two are inseparable — a point I doubt they are ready to concede. Regardless, they can’t have it both ways: either jihadist ideology has nothing to do with Islam, as Islamic groups constantly represent, and thus it can be addressed without infringing on their freedom of religion; or they must admit, along with the “Islamophobes,” that jihadist ideology and the violence it promotes are part and parcel with Islam. The question for these critics is unavoidable: which is it?

MUSLIMS VS. RADICAL MUSLIMS

Is there really a difference?

I know this is heretical, and I understand the need not to paint all members of that faith with the same brush. After all, there have been murderous maniacs claiming adherence to all kinds of faiths before ( possibly the worst of which, btw, is the Marxist faith and the millions it has tortured and killed).

There ARE good, fine people who call themselves Muslim. But increasingly, the evidence is leading me to believe that those people are considered heretics by the larger Muslim world and are in a vast minority.

The Bible exhorts people to spread Christianity, but says "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's. Give to God what is God's.

The Koran, in contrast, makes no such distinction. There is the world of Islam and the world of War. It calls for total control in all areas or death, or at the very least, slavery to the Caliphate.
It is a book of legal, monetary and religious dominance. Islam, by no coincidence, means submission".

The Qur’an tells Muslims to be compassionate with one another but ruthless to the infidel:

Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves… (48:29)

Allah intends for Muslims to triumph over believers:

And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way to triumph over believers [Pickthall – “any way of success”] (4:141)

The only acceptable position of non-Muslims to Muslims is subjugation under Islamic rule:

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. (9:29 Jizya is the money that non-Muslims must pay to their Muslim overlords in a pure Islamic state.)...

Allah himself fights against the unbelievers (9:30), so why should Muslims not fight in his cause rather than in the cause of evil (4:76)? About 19% of the Qur'an is devoted to the violent conquest and subjugation of non-Muslims:

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies and others besides, whom ye may not know (8:60)

Strive hard (Jihad) against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed. (66:9, See also 9:73)...

.Non-Muslims are to be fought until religion is only for Allah:

And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah… (8:39 – “Persecution” in this context means resistance to Islam – defined in the prior verse as an unwillingness to believe (see verse 38). This passage was “revealed” following a battle that Muhammad deliberately provoked. Verse 2:193 essentially says the same thing and was also “revealed” at a time when the Muslims were not under physical attack).....

Allah provides instructions to Muslims for dealing with unbelievers who are unwilling to accept Islamic rule:

Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment. (8:12-13)

Yeah, I know Jesus founded a religion of eeeeevil Fundamentalists bent on converting people through persuasion n' stuff (fascists!) but did he ever call for them to cut off people's heads and fingers? Did he massacre thousands to spread his word? Uh, no. He let his enemies them kill him. And he loved them. Lil' diff there.

Mohammed began his religion with mass murder. Does a rotten root really produce fine fruit? C'mon. It's rotten and doesn't fall far from the tree.

Jonah Goldberg, as usual has some insightful things to say:

We have a real problem when much of the political and journalistic establishment is eager to jump to the conclusion that peaceful political opponents are in league with violent extremists, but is terrified to consider the possibility that violent extremists really are violent extremists if doing so means calling attention to the fact that they are Muslims.

I am more sympathetic toward this reluctance to state the truth of the matter than some of my colleagues on the right. There is a powerful case to be made that Islamic extremism is not some fringe phenomena but part of the mainstream of Islamic life around the world. And yet, to work from that assumption might make the assumption all the more self-fulfilling. If we act as if "Islam is the problem," as some say, we will guarantee that Islam will become the problem. But outright denial, like we are seeing today, is surely not the beginning of wisdom either.

I have no remedy for the challenge we face. But I do take some solace in George Orwell's observation that "to see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle."

He's is absolutely correct in saying we don't want to equate the radical Islamofascists with so-called "mainstream" muslims for fear of pushing them all into actually following the dictates of their faith. The mainstream that remains silent. The mainstream that follows the same books that call for our violent demise.

But at what point does this understandable strategy become self-destruction? Its not comfortable, it offends American's natural desire to be inclusive and it will enrage the the muslim population. But to pretend and ignore what is becoming a preponderance of evidence is suicide.

Or mass murder. And so we have Maj. Hasan:

He demonstrated that being a trained psychiatrist provides no immunity to ancient hatreds and religious fanaticism, nor does psychiatric training provide much acuity in spotting such things in others. For example, the London Telegraph reports that, in what was supposed to be a medical lecture, Hassan instead gave an hourlong briefing on the Koran, explaining to colleagues at Walter Reed Army Medical Center that nonbelievers should be beheaded, have boiling oil poured down their throats and set on fire.

His fellow psychiatrists completely missed this "red flag" -- a suddenly popular euphemism for incandescently obvious evidence this man had no place in the U.S. Army.

He proved how lacking our domestic security system is. According to ABC News, intelligence agencies were aware for months that Hasan had tried to contact Al Qaeda. His colleagues reportedly knew he sympathized with suicide bombings and attacks on U.S. troops abroad, and one colleague said Hasan was pleased by an attack on an Army recruiting office and suggested more of the same might be desirable. That's treason, even if you're a Muslim.

Which raises the most troubling revelation: For a very large number of people, the idea that he is a Muslim fanatic, motivated by other Muslim fanatics, was -- at least initially -- too terrible to contemplate. (Jonah Goldberg)

This officer said he was so surprised when Hasan gave a talk about “the war on terror being a war on Islam” that he asked the lieutenant colonel running the course what Hasan’s presentation had to do with health care. “I raised my hand and asked, `Why are you letting this go on — this has nothing to do with environmental health.’ The course director said, `I’m just going to let him go.’” The topic of Hasan’s presentation, the officer says, had been approved in advance by the lieutenant colonel.…

A retired four-star officer says that, based on the evidence gleaned so far, it was Hasan’s career that should have been cut short. “They could have given — him a dishonorable discharge and said what he’s doing works against good order and discipline,” said the general, who also requested anonymity.

So when a soldier openly talks of killing Americans, courts jihadists, attempts contact with AQ etc. etc. etc. (which of course, to the left, means nothing), he is left free to murder Americans.

Better that we be dead that upset anyone. THAT is why I say that Jugears and everyone else that pushes this insanity is partly responsible for the deaths at Fort Hood.

Partly responsible as well for the deaths of our troops over seas, hamstrung by insane rules of engagement made to pretend war is not war and by the completely un-hinged policy of requiring them to read Miranda Rights to the enemy (no, it's not just for U.S. citizens anymore. Remember? We're World Citizens now!)

How do they sleep at night? Easy. Soldiers are all stupid baby killers anyway, war is evil if it's not pretty and every culture is equally valuable and deserving respect in our new One World; even cultures that insist on the destruction of all others by violence, intimidation and by labeling the non-acceptance of their laws as discrimination. Who are WE to say that we shouldn't all die? Who are we to say that we shouldn't accept Sharia Law as the Koran mandates that we do?

BLOGGING DIFFICULTIES!

After turning cartwheels because replacing one of my RAM chips with a larger one got my computer up and running, and so getting back to work here, BAM! Browser crashing. Waited for another chip, thinking it was the in-equality in size that was doing it, got it, installed it and still.....crashing continues.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd sure like to hear them.

Having said that, so far today, so good so I'm going to give it a shot....
