Following its publication, The Nation sold an unprecedented 30,000 reprints. Activists were abuzz over the so-called "crisis strategy" or "Cloward-Piven Strategy," as it came to be called. It authorizes previous funding, so no big deal, right?

Many, however, are raising concerns that the program, which is intended to include 250,000 “volunteers,” is the beginning of what President Obama called his “National Civilian Security Force”...

The new bill specifically references the possibilities “if all individuals in the United States were expected to perform national service or were required to perform a certain amount of national service.”

The bill notes this

“would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.”

2. Propose massive spending that does not directly address the causes or effects of the crisis, but which would be difficult to sell in any nominal political conditions. In short, use scare tactics to advance ideology as a primary goal, overriding all other imperatives;

3. When challenged on any proposed agenda, accuse the critic of obstruction, and claim that the critic is somehow making the crisis worse by demanding due diligence;

4. When public opinion begins to turn against the use of scare tactics, switch to a pretense of optimism and success, claim that your political agenda was somehow responsible, and if it becomes obvious that the plan has failed, blame your political enemies;

5. When all else fails, distract the public through persecution of high-profile individuals, scapegoat conveniently caricatured enemies, or just hide from the issues by focusing on absurd quirks like publishing your 'Final Four' picks instead of addressing the failure of your Treasury Secretary to comprehend even the most fundamental elements of finance, or appear on a talk show hosted by a comedian, rather than explain how sending billions of tax dollars to your favorite special interest groups will increase consumer confidence or rebuild the housing market.

MODERATE MUSLIMS BEING MODERATE?

Yes, I know there are muslims that are fine, good people, but they sure seem in short supply- especially when acting as spokesmen for moderate muslims. For instance:

This honor killing is particularly shocking because Hassan co-founded the Bridges TV network, which was created specifically to combat negative stereotypes of Muslims and to supposedly present Americans with an alternative “moderate” form of Islam.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIBERAL AND CONSERVATIVE

Right Wing News has an interview with a formerly, like myself, life-long liberal about the difference. From the interview with Evan Sayet:

The basic difference is a recognition that good and evil, right and wrong, better and worse do exist and that's what the conservative believes -- and it becomes his job to do his best to seek out the good of fighting evil, to promote the better end and squelch the worse.

The opposite point of view is that nothing can be recognized as better or worse than anything, not because it doesn't necessarily exist, but because as human beings we don't have the objectivity to know if our belief that something is good is really because it's good or if it's a reflection of our bigotries.

And the is really it in a nutshell. It explains post-modern deconstructionism's insanity and why they believe themselves to be so highly evolved and intelligent. There is no arbiter of value but themselves and they cannot trust to or have faith in anything. They are left in their narcissistic hell, alone, and free to justify any behavior regardless of its result. I don't exagerate when I say its hell- it was for me, but like a true liberal I operated through cognitive dissonance and told myself it was the opposite. Any pain I suffered was from the stupid world not being smart enough to see the light. Any pain I felt was from oppressive haters- it couldnt possibly come from ME. He makes exactly this point:

indiscriminateness of thought doesn't lead to indiscriminateness of policy.

Indiscriminateness of thought leads to a society with evil, failure, and wrong because if nothing is better than anything else, then that which failed must have been victimized. If it's just as good as everything else, then if it fails or if it's just as good as everything else and it commits an evil act, that evil act must have been de facto, provoked.

Late last year, when the gay community was working itself into a frenzy over the passage of Proposition 8 -the measure to amend the California State Constitution to define marriage specifically as a union between one man and one woman - I realized I didn’t trust the community anymore. And I’m gay.

The realization didn’t come overnight; it had been forming for some time. But the Gestapo tactics over Prop 8 - McCarthy-style blacklists, boycotting of otherwise gay-friendly businesses, apologies coerced out of individual supporters who made the “wrong” choice, enforced politically-correct donations to the Human Rights Campaign - clarified it for me.

...The response to 9/11 left me feeling even more betrayed. Though there was a bona fide gay hero in the attacks - Mark Bingham, the athletic businessman who helped storm the cockpit of United Flight 93, throwing the Islamists’ suicide mission off course - he soon got brushed aside in favor of the Loose Change/neocon conspiracy/hate-Bush zeitgeist that was sweeping the Left.

The movement, or should I say urban gay culture, didn’t seem to be about being gay anymore; it had become fixated on hating US authority - not so much Big Brother as “Big Daddy,” some imaginary, omnipotent, no doubt conservative patriarchal figure in the sky (obviously the product of a lot of transference). A new document meant to help Missouri law enforcement agencies identify militia members or domestic terrorists has drawn criticism for some of the warning signs mentioned...

The Missouri Information Analysis Center (a division of the state police) has compiled an enemies list of warning signs for state police officers, signs that are supposed to help them determine potential terrorists. Such signs include Ron Paul bumper stickers, or "Right to Carry" handgun stickers (I have to wonder: does it include Support Your Local Police stickers, too?) and our friendly state troopers are warned to proceed with extreme caution against such radicals....

The state police are warned that Christians, "sovereign citizens", those opposed to abortion, tax revisionists, and anti-illegal immigrant advocates are potential would-be terrorists.

A lawyer for a whistleblower on the activist group ACORN is prepared to tell a House panel Thursday that the group provided liberal causes with protest-for-hire services and coerced donations from the targets of demonstrations through a mob-style "protection" racket.

ACORN called it the "muscle for the money" program, according to prepared testimony Pittsburgh lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh plans to deliver at a hearing of the House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution, civil rights and civil liberties. …

The protest shakedowns are among a slew of accusations that Ms. Heidelbaugh intends to make against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. She also will accuse the nonprofit group of violating tax, campaign-finance and other laws by sharing a list of President Obama's maxed-out campaign donors to solicit more funds for a get-out-the-vote drive.
