Barney Frank's plans will certainly turn an economic crisis into a full scale depression. This, of course, is not too troubling to the left, as crisis is what they need to get otherwise sensible people to buy their snake oil. After the November election, Democrats will push for a second economic stimulus package that includes money for the states’ stalled infrastructure projects, along with help paying for healthcare expenses, food stamps and extended unemployment benefits, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank said Thursday.

In a meeting with the editorial board of The Standard-Times, Rep. Frank, D-Mass., also called for a 25 percent cut in military spending, saying the Pentagon has to start choosing from its many weapons programs, and that upper-income taxpayers are going to see an increase in what they are asked to pay.

The military cuts also mean getting out of Iraq sooner, he said.

…Also, he said, “we’ll increase the federal share of medical care so states won’t have to lay off people.” Unemployment insurance benefits won’t increase, he said, but the period of collecting them will, and eligibility requirements might be relaxed.

And, ultimately, there will be tax increases on the upper brackets. “We’ll have to raise taxes ultimately. Not now, but eventually,” he said.

He neglected the re-introductions of the Orwellian-named "fairness doctrine," which is sure to be a priority. Free speech can not be tolerated from those with whom the wealth-spreaders disagree.

I guess that means, they judge a candidate by her membership in a church, assuming she agrees with everything her church does.

By their very definition, then, the Democratic nominee for president is a race-baiting conspiracy theorist given his twenty-year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ, then led by a pastor who often issued venomous statements attacking the United States, promoting conspiracy theories and badmouthing white people. Obama chose to worship at a church that promoted the Palestinian terror organization Hamas in its bullet.

Since the Democratic Party nominated Barack Obama who attended this church, they, by Stonewall Democrats’ own logic, subscribe to those views.

WOW. And some of them accuse us of being self-hating. How could gay people be party of such a party?

Obama chose to worship at a church that promoted solidarity with Palestinian terrorists and whose pastor badmouthed the United States in general and white people in particular. Should such a man be President?

The idea that Obama was ever really about transcending race flies completely in the face of his own writings. The overarching theme of his book Dreams From My Father is the story of man who found it impossible to transcend race and instead explicitly chose to have a racial identity when he didn’t have to (he describes fellow multiracial students he met in college as sellouts). He then joined a black church whose theology is shot-through with black nationalism and whose longtime pastor believes that black brains are different from white brains.

But, yes, I know: The above paragraph reads: “Blah, blah, blah ... racist, racism, racey-race-racism.”

Now, let us actually transcend race for a moment. Apparently for Obama, “transcend” isn’t a racial term so much as a euphemism for declaring victory. He says he wants to “turn the page” on the arguments of the ’80s and ’90s, by which he means conservatives should stop clinging to their guns and antiquated Sky God and join his cause.

He told Planned Parenthood he wants to stop “arguing about the same ole stuff,” by which he means he wants people who disagree with his absolute support for government-funded abortion on demand to shut up already.

He doesn’t want to argue about his pals from the Weather Underground who murdered or celebrated the murder of policemen and other Americans, he just wants everyone to agree no one should care.

In short, Obama and his disciples only demand one kind of transcendence from all Americans. We must, as Obama likes to say, unite as one people, one nation, one American family and transcend all of our misgivings about Barack Obama. Then, and only then, will The One fulfill his wife’s pledge and fix our broken souls.

A DEMOCRAT EXPLAINS THE MORTAGE CRISIS

Wow is this refreshing! From Meridian Magazine:

This housing crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.

It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the late 1990s, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to approve risky loans.

What is a risky loan? It's a loan that the recipient is likely not to be able to repay.

The goal of this rule change was to help the poor — which especially would help members of minority groups. But how does it help these people to give them a loan that they can't repay? They get into a house, yes, but when they can't make the payments, they lose the house — along with their credit rating.

They end up worse off than before.

This was completely foreseeable and in fact many people did foresee it. One political party, in Congress and in the executive branch, tried repeatedly to tighten up the rules. The other party blocked every such attempt and tried to loosen them.

Furthermore, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were making political contributions to the very members of Congress who were allowing them to make irresponsible loans. (Though why quasi-federal agencies were allowed to do so baffles me. It's as if the Pentagon were allowed to contribute to the political campaigns of Congressmen who support increasing their budget.)

Isn't there a story here? Doesn't journalism require that you who produce our daily paper tell the truth about who brought us to a position where the only way to keep confidence in our economy was a $700 billion bailout? Aren't you supposed to follow the money and see which politicians were benefiting personally from the deregulation of mortgage lending?

I have no doubt that if these facts had pointed to the Republican Party or to John McCain as the guilty parties, you would be treating it as a vast scandal. "Housing-gate," no doubt. Or "Fannie-gate."

Instead, it was Senator Christopher Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank, both Democrats, who denied that there were any problems, who refused Bush administration requests to set up a regulatory agency to watch over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and who were still pushing for these agencies to go even further in promoting sub-prime mortgage loans almost up to the minute they failed.

As Thomas Sowell points out in a TownHall.com essay entitled "Do Facts Matter?" ( http://snipurl.com/457townhall_com] ): "Alan Greenspan warned them four years ago. So did the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President. So did Bush's Secretary of the Treasury."

These are facts. This financial crisis was completely preventable. The party that blocked any attempt to prevent it was ... the Democratic Party. The party that tried to prevent it was ... the Republican Party.

If you who produce our local daily paper actually had any principles, you would be pounding this story, because the prosperity of all Americans was put at risk by the foolish, short-sighted, politically selfish, and possibly corrupt actions of leading Democrats, including Obama.

If you who produce our local daily paper had any personal honor, you would find it unbearable to let the American people believe that somehow Republicans were to blame for this crisis.

But right now, you are consenting to or actively promoting a big fat lie — that the housing crisis should somehow be blamed on Bush, McCain, and the Republicans. You have trained the American people to blame everything bad — even bad weather — on Bush, and they are responding as you have taught them to.

If you had any personal honor, each reporter and editor would be insisting on telling the truth — even if it hurts the election chances of your favorite candidate.

Because that's what honorable people do. Honest people tell the truth even when they don't like the probable consequences. That's what honesty means . That's how trust is earned.

I really get irritated by politicians and others tip toeing around saying what the left is really all about. Its not as if examples don't flow like the friggin Amazon every day! But people are cowed into "being nice" and not calling a rotten red tomato a rotten red tomato. I on the other hand just don't care. From Right Wing News:

Most liberals despise Christians. Why do you think they support anti-Christian groups like the ACLU, get whiny about people mentioning Christmas, and are generally hostile to those who take their religious beliefs seriously?

Liberals also hate successful people who want the government to stay the hell out of their way, as opposed to the losers who whinge about how the government "doesn't care about them." See, liberals can make themselves feel superior by taking other people's money (not their own money, of course) and giving it to the 2nd group, while the 1st group threatens their power by providing an excellent example for others to emulate.

Whether you are talking about their attitude towards capitalism, Christianity, or America, there isn't two dimes worth of difference between the average liberal today and a member of the old Soviet Politburo.

In fact, if you absolutely had to choose, we'd probably be better off with a group of Khrushchev clones running the country than Pelosi, Reid, and Barack Obama. Granted, they'd both pursue roughly the same policies, but the American people would rebel if the Commies deliberately did to us what the Democrats would like to do to this country in the name of "helping people."

BIDEN CAMPAIGNS FOR McCAIN, MEDIA REACHES NEW LOW

So Biden comes out and says that since Obama has no experience and is untested, the first thing to happen is some nut is gonna start something as soon as he takes office (here). As anyone that lives in a ghetto knows, the first thing to happen when someone unknown moves in is that you're tested. "Let's see if we can push this MF around." Duh. Interestingly, it has just come out that Iran will be able to build a bomb by FEBRUARY. Biden said Obama's response might not be popular with people but we need to just stick with him. Given the just dropped info on Iran's getting the bomb asap, I am wondering if that "unpopular" response is to say, "see ya, Isreal, been nice knowin ya." Ace has another idea:
